OUR BELIEFS

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

BEING A CHRIST CENTERED FAMILY:

Our daily living is to express faith in Jesus Christ to support and train others as a family unit.

PURPOSEFUL PRACTICAL PRESENCE:

Our living for Christ is a conscious choice, expressed in every day life ways as we are present for others.

BURRTON, KANSAS AND BEYOND:

Our lives are focused on the people and families of Burrton but not limited there, as we respond to whoever God sends us to.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

– The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the Inspired Word of God, infallible in its truth, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of mankind, and the Divine and ultimate authority in all matters of faith and practice.

– In one God, Creator and Sustainer of all things, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; that these are equal in all divine perfection; and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption.

– That Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.  He willingly died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures.  Furthermore, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven where at the right hand of the Father, He is our High Priest and our Advocate.

– That the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and, during this age, to convict people of sin, transform the believing sinner, and indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living service.

– That mankind was created in the image of God but, by disobedience, fell into sin and is, therefore, spiritually lost and separated from God. Only by believing in Jesus for salvation can forgiveness of sins and eternal life be obtained.

– That the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provides the only grounds for justification and salvation for all who believe.  Only those who receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and become eternal children of God.

– That water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by followers of Jesus.  They are not, however, to be regarded a means of salvation. Baptism is to be by immersion unless a person is physically unable to do so.

– That the true Church is composed of all persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ of which He is the head.

– In the personal and certain return of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this “Blessed Hope” has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer.

– In the bodily resurrection of the dead; that the believer will receive eternal blessedness and joy with the Lord; that the unbeliever will receive judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.

– The institution of marriage is between a man and a woman entering into a covenant relationship as stated in the book of Genesis.
